I have been using Microsoft word 365 for one and half years. Because of langue issue I use extensively Grammarly to check my grammar and spelling. Grammarly has been designed for use with Microsoft Office hence it is best package on the market for checking English writing. However it has never worked successfully with Microsoft Office Word 365. Every time I use Grammarly Word closes down and goes into recovery mode. Grammarly issued a number of patches to resolve the issue but it seems Microsoft does not accept the Grammarly add-on.
Is there a solution? Or can Microsoft improve their Word grammar and Spell check then there would be no need for add-on? Thanks, Steve Paris. Email address is removed for privacy.Personal information deleted by the moderator. Please see the for more information on how you can protect your privacy.
Word 365 is just not suitable for editing of large manuscripts (300 pages +). In my case on daily bases it stops responding once every hour when it reverts into recovery mode. The problem is it does not recover anything as I always get empty page back. Regardless weather I use Grammarly or not, Word 365 is unstable, only useful for writing letters.
When you submit your work to Grammarly, it will run a very thorough check of all. PowerPoint into a MS Word document and submit it that way. Mar 28, 2019 Click Enable Grammarly to set up Grammarly. It’s at the top-right corner of Word. Once you set up and activate Grammarly, you can start using it to check your grammar and spelling in Microsoft Word.
Not even suitable for serious students work. Macrosoft are aware that Word 365 frequently stops responding but they are not fixing it. I have lost a half a year with of my work using Word 365 so I use Word 2010 but I am stuck with one year subscription on Word 365 on my other 3 computers.
365 is waste of time and money. One is better of buying full version.
Hello Steve, Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query. Since you have mentioned you have Word 2013 installed on other 3 computer do you find the same issue on other computers? Since Word is working unstable, let’s try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the following article and check if it helps. I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. Yes same problem persist on two other computers one with WIN8.1 and the other WIN 7.
The problem seem to be only with Office Word 365. It is not only the WORD stopping responding frequently but the spelling and grammar respond unexpectedly by Treasures giving completely unusual words English meanings. I have loaded Office 2010 home and student version to overcome this problem but since I have a manuscript with 420 pages I get a message 'you have exceeded the maximum pages permitted.if you exit your document will be damaged' not exact wording but the meaning is correct.
Now I am wandering what is MS Word designed for if it can not handle a large manuscript. Is restriction applied to only Student and Home version in Office 2010 to limited use of number of pages? I also have Professional Office 2007 and it works fine, no problem. So what is going on? Thanks for responding.

Today I have sent email as per bellow to Grammarly which explains it all and finds the answer I was seeking for the issue I had with Grammarly, Microsoft Office 2013 (365) and Norton Security 360. Email to Grammarly 5, JAN 2015 First wish you all A Very Happy New Year 2015, I am again writing to you because I find Grammarly the best editing software for writers using Microsoft Word. I want to share my experience using Grammarly with you.
The problems in the past using Grammarly with Microsoft Word was usually due to Microsoft Word stoping to respond and it used to simple close down and later present me with empty page. After when I opened my manuscript again I was presented with the side window with message of the usual original document recovery from sudden shut down. When I clicked on the recovery document the editing changes I made were not there. I was wondering what were Microsoft up to when they sent me a message afterward asking me not to use Grammarly but to use Microsoft Word editing features Grammar and Spelling. Microsoft editing features in Word are absolutely no match for Grammarly so I sent you messages telling you about my problems.
Meanwhile I persevered using Grammarly and saved frequently. Periodically Microsoft requested me to send them edited text from my manuscript which I gladly did if it would have helped improve Microsoft Word - (request stating “to improve Word editing features” not exact Microsoft wording).
To remind you I am using Microsoft Office 2013 on 365 deal which requires me to be on line same as Grammarly so I thought Microsoft can pick up whatever I am doing at my end as I also save my work on their Cloud. Without sounding paranoid I felt they were being mean.and also I thought you may have Legal issue with MS monopolising etcetera. But then I am also using Norton Security 360 and I noticed that whenever you sent Grammarly update patch Norton 360 came up with alarm detecting “Trojan Horse” and asked me to restart my PC. I got suspicious so I deleted and removed Norton Security from my PC and since I had no problem.
Grammarly is happily flying on Microsoft Word without closing down. Except I have no Norton Security 360 on this PC. So there you are, Grammarly is excellent add on to Microsoft Word specially for writers like myself whose English is not first language.
Maybe this will help you in further improving Grammarly or maybe you could be an excellent acquisition by Microsoft at a good price of cause. Thanks, End of email to Grammarly. Thanks to all who were willing to help and specially to Microsoft Support Team Steve Paris. The problem could be some other third-party application.
